Secret Saga of THE GREEN HORNET "Green Hornet Stings Twice!"

...Britt Reid II is compelled, in the late 1960s, by the assassination of a close friend running for public office to don the mask to solve the murder...
And the Silver Age/TV Green Hornet takes flight against evil...
This never-reprinted section of NOW's Green Hornet V1N3 (1990) reveals the Golden Age/radio/movie serial Green Hornet's daughter Diana discovering her uncle has become a new (Silver Age/TV) Green Hornet.
After graduating law school and passing the bar exams, she would eventually replace District Attorney Frank Scanlon (who secretly-aided the Silver Age/TV Hornet) as DA, working with both her uncle and two nephews in their masked identities to bring criminals to justice.

Secret Saga of THE GREEN HORNET "The Second Green Hornet and Kato Take Flight!"

We Showed You the Never-Reprinted Origin of the Golden Age/Radio/Movie Serial Green Hornet and Kato...

...Now See How Their Replacements Made Their Debut!
Writer Ron Fortier stated that the "Origin of the Silver Age/TV Green Hornet and Kato" flashback which follows was a fill-in by penciler Jim Wisniewski and inker Lenin Delsol as to finish issue NOW's Green Hornet #2 (1990) and get it to the printer when artist Jeff Butler became too ill to work.

This segment was excluded, at Fortier's request, from the Bonus Books Green Hornet reprint collection of issues #1 to #12, which continues with the story from the first half of #2 as shown HERE to the second half of #3 as shown HERE, so this chapter of the saga was, in fact, never-reprinted!
In addition, note that Britt Reid II should be black-haired...
...not blond, as shown here.
Now let's travel to the late-1960s...

TALES OF THE GREEN HORNET "Destiny: the Origin of the Green Hornet" Conclusion

We Have Already Seen...

Crusading newspaper publisher Britt Reid is sickened by the unchecked oppression of small businesses forced to pay "protection" to gangsters who use arson to force shopowners to pay.
With his friend and ally Kato providing both a non-lethal weapon and a souped-up/bulletproof auto, Reid conceives a masked identity...The Green Hornet, a "pseudo-gangster" who will infiltrate and destroy the racketeers from within!
But first, the Verdant "Villain" must introduce himself to the underworld...
The "future" decided at least three generations of the Reid and Kato families would continue the crusade...
And, on that note...
NEXT WEEK...
...the first (never-reprinted) adventure of the Silver Age/TV

TALES OF THE GREEN HORNET "Destiny: the Origin of the Green Hornet" Part 2A

When Last We Left the "Other Dynamic Duo"...

While on vacation in pre-World War II Tokyo with his parents (including his father, Dan Reid Jr, nephew of The Lone Ranger), Britt Reid rescues a drowning man, Ikano Kato.
Though Japanese himself, Ikano is marked for death by the Japanese government for not supporting the Emperor's militaristic policies.
Despite Japanese officials' protests, Britt's millionaire publisher father uses his considerable influence with the American government to cut bureaucratic red tape.
The Reids set sail for the good ol' USA, with Kato accompanying them.
You'll find out, mobster...
Wednesday!
And, hoo boy, are you gonna regret it!
Written by James Van Hise, pencilled by Dell Barras and inked by John Stangeland, this never-reprinted story from NOW's Tales of the Green Hornet V2N2 (1992) fills in the gaps about how Britt and Kato met, and how they ended up as alleged murderers wanted by law enforcement!
Note: the story follows up on the fact, established on the radio show and in the movie serials, that Kato was the one who handled the weapons and vehicle technology as well as designing the Hornet mask and insignia.
The 1960s TV show ignored that aspect of the character, but the otherwise-awful 2011 movie restored it!
