Secret Saga of THE GREEN HORNET "Death in the Family" Conclusion

Note: this very kool Steve Rude cover is misleading, since it shows the correct Kato, but not the correct Green Hornet!
...Now, We're Witnessing the Wedding of a Member of the Reid Family!
(But the meaning of the story title isn't entirely fulfilled, yet...)
Is this the end of Green Hornet III's all-too-brief career?
And if it is, who's the guy in GH III's costume looking through the photo albums?
A ghost...or an impostor...or???

Secret Saga of THE GREEN HORNET "Death in the Family" Part 1

...Britt Reid II had just collapsed from a heart attack...which was not fatal, but does end his costumed crime-fighting career.
Sadly, his elderly aunt, Britt Reid Senior's wife Ruth, has just passed (of natural causes) from this mortal coil...
Things are certainly looking up for Britt II and Hayashi, eh?
But just as Fate had plans for the first Hornet and Kato after they retired, it has plans for the second "Dynamic Duo"...and their families, which you'll see...

Secret Saga of THE GREEN HORNET "Exit the Second Green Hornet"

We Have Already Seen...

...in "present day" 1989, a person dressed as a Green Hornet enters the remains of the burned-out Reid family mansion and finds the hidden manuscript for Britt Reid Sr / Green Hornet I's memoirs.
He continues reading of Green Hornet II and Kato II's exploits in the 1960s and 70s...
While this is, chronologically, Green Hornet II's final appearance in costume, Britt Reid II is not dead, and continues to appear in future issues.
And there are numerous flashback tales about 1960s/70s adventures to come in this series!

Secret Saga of THE GREEN HORNET "Has 40's Crime Master returned?"

Cover by Dave Dorman
Upon seeing Page 1, your first reaction will be "That ain't the guy on the cover!"
And you'd be right!
Don't worry, we didn't skip an issue...
Written by Ron Fortier, penciled by Jeff Butler, inked by David Mowry, this tale from NOW's Green Hornet V1N2 (1989) starts in the then-present with a later Hornet, then shifts back in time to the Silver/Bronze Age version seen on TV.
We break off our presentation at the point where the story shifts pencilers.
Writer Ron Fortier stated that the "origin" flashback which followed was created as a fill-in to finish the issue and get it to the printer when Jeff Butler became too ill to work.
The segment was excluded, at Fortier's request, from the reprint collection which continues with the story from #3.
Since this was the writer's suggestion, we're following his editorial wishes in our re-presentation.
We may show that fill-in storyline as a standalone post in the near future.
But next week...more action with Green Hornet II and Kato II!
